Joy in the Spirit
Romans 15:13
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Joy flows from trust. Most of us prefer to avoid situations where we HAVE to trust Jesus. We prefer Jesus to pick us up and place us on the other side of the problem rather than make us walk through it with Him. However, we see in Romans 15:13, that joy and peace are born from situations that require trust in God. It’s odd to think, when we pray for joy or peace, God might give us a problem. However, sometimes the only way these hearty attributes are formed in us is through trial that leads to trust in God. Then, the Spirit fills us as we rest in God’s promises.
